October 1, 2021: I spotted this baby on the street the other day:
It’s the first one I’ve seen in a long time and the best preserved one I’ve ever encountered. I don’t know how many were made, but they were never common..
It reminded me of this gem from my past:
My Dakota was a 4-cylinder, 5-speed, 2wd base model with an FM radio. I bought it because it was plain and cheap, and it served me well. It’s a reminder of a time when things were simpler.
With a top speed of 65MPH, no air conditioning, and a tow rating of –zero– pounds, it would never fly in my life today. It’s fondly remembered though.
October 2: I spent the day on the Ithaca Central RR with the rail car. Here she is, lost in the middle of a line of larger cars at set-on.
The weather was fabulous and the scenery matched. This is a ride to repeat whenever I can.
October 3: The day dawned cool and damp. Thanks to Google Maps I finally located the local Dunkin Donuts. (I can tell I’m not in New England anymore; there was ONE and I had to search for it.) I caught this just before dawn while parked across the street. I continue to be amazed at the abilities of the iPhone 12 camera.
Perhaps I should try another P365 project. . .
One final musing for the night:
On the way back to my hotel I passed people holding signs saying “Lord Forgive Our Sins and Our Country” and “Pray for an End to Abortion”. I kind of wanted to stop and talk with them, but I suspect it would have been counterproductive even if I could have found a parking spot for my beast. While Redemption for America and reducing abortions are laudable goals, I suspect we would differ greatly in the details. Be specific, people!
