As I was skimming back through the blog I noticed that I have repeatedly mentioned my new car. I have never followed up, though.
I used to be the proud owner of a 2011 VW Sportwagen TDI. It was a great machine. It was fun to drive, had good cargo space, and got excellent fuel economy. It also turns out it was a fraud. VW’s emissions scandals are well documented elsewhere. What this meant for me was that VW offered me more money than the car was worth. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse, but it left me without a daily driver. (I ‘temporarily’ bought a 1996 Volvo which has proven hard to give up, but that is another post.)
Thanks to VW, back in March of 2017 I became the proud owner of a Mark X Honda Civic.
I confess I had never had much interest in Hondas, but something about the Civic caught my eye. When I discovered I could get one with a 6-speed manual transmission, a turbo, and a decent trim package I was sold. Mine came in a metallic red so dark it looks black.
The Civic was a great car. It proved to be a gateway drug, though. In May of this year I moved on to something slightly more exotic.
More later.
