This is Taylor. She’s a wonderful 10-year old brown tiger domestic medium hair who lost her forever home when her person had to go to a nursing home. She positively broke my heart, but I can’t adopt them all. Taylor is available for adoption from the MSPCA/Nevins Farm in Methuen, MA. Please consider giving her or someone like her a home!
Over the years, all of our cats have come to us. We’ve never gone looking for one; they simply come into our lives and stay. Ericka got Shelby from a neighbor who was going to put her out; Noah and Sebastian are ferals born in my Dad’s yard. Dozens, if not hundreds, of foster cats have passed through our home. Just three have stayed: Clarabel, Hal, and Chang.
Family, friends, and long-term NfMH readers will know of the pain we suffered with the death of Chang at Thanksgiving. It was especially hard for me, as she had become MY cat. The others like me, but they love Ericka. Chang (and Shelby before her) was strongly bonded to me. After her loss, I was left in a four cat household without a cat of my own.
Fast forward a couple months to yesterday. One of Ericka’s friends volunteers at MSPCA, and she sends us photos of any Siamese who pass through. A few have crossed my wife’s desktop without any reaction, but yesterday one stood out. She forwarded the photos to me, and something clicked. I had to meet this cat.
We all know where this is leading.
We went to meet her today, and of course she came home with us. The latest member of our feline colony has found us. She came with the name Bella, but we’re thinking of changing it. Having a Bella and a Clarabel in the same family might be confusing. Bella is a 1 year old seal point Siamese with snowshoe (white) toes. She’s a sweetheart. Although scared at the shelter, she let Ericka pet her; when I approached she came right to the front of the cage to greet me.
I think, hope, and pray, that I may have found MY next cat.
