eBay marketing FAIL

I just purchased a new case for my iPhone via eBay. When I completed the transaction, eBay presented a list of 12 more ‘items I might be interested in’.

Eleven of them were the exact item I’d just bought. FAIL.

The twelfth was a Bluetooth accessory which I don’t need. Nice try.

But let’s look deeper:

The eleven exact items can either be more expensive or less expensive than the one I just bought. If they’re more expensive, and for some strange reason I DO want another, why would I not go directly back to the vendor from whom I just bought?

If they’re less expensive, eBay has just told me I’m a sucker. That’s not a good way to encourage repeat sales.
I hope people weren’t paying for those ads, because if they were they are the suckers.
