Quiet

A busy afternoon turns to evening.

The television is off. The Modine heaters click and whir in the garage, spreading their friendly warmth across the bays. Outside the evening is cold and calm. For once there is no snow, no wind, no nastiness. The city holds its breath.

Radio speakers murmur with the sounds of the Sin City trucks, tying up the loose ends of the day. The Medic 9 creaks and ticks softly as it cools.

And we wait.
