A few years ago, a good friend’s son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. While it’s now possible to live a relatively normal life with diabetes, the disease will put him at a higher risk for any number of serious related conditions. Forever.
Every year my friend and his family participate in the JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. For the first time this year I will be able to join them.
Today I found out that another good friend’s son has been diagnosed with another of the big, bad childhood diseases. We don’t know yet exactly how bad it is. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
So this year I have extra motivation. My JDRF fundraising page is here. I’m asking all of my Facebook friends, Tweeps, and blog readers to pitch in whatever you can. One dollar from each of you would blow away my initial goal.
I can’t cure my friends’ sons. Lord knows I wish I could. We do what we can, though. Thank you for whatever you can do.
